Get your bargains now!

Now is the time to stock up on things you use year-round. Grape juice, matza ball soup, gefilte fish, and other traditionally Jewish foods are on sale, often a really good sale NOW. This kind of sale really happens twice a year: before Rosh Hashanah and before Pesach (although sometimes “Jewish food” goes on sale on Hanuka, too–no, not just Hanuka things like candles and latke mix, but everything Jewish, including grape juice and matzah!).

For example, the big kedem grape juice (64 oz) is usually between $6.49 and $7.99 regular price. We go through about 1 a Shabbat/Yom Tov (or up to every two weeks), so to buy it full price, week in and week out…ouch!

In the past, I’ve bought about 30 bottles at each sale, and it’s been on sale here for $2.50 per bottle. This year, the lowest price I’ve been able to find around here is $2.99–still not bad!

So a frugal tip: stock up at the sales to last until Passover!
