Shwarma pie

Who doesn’t like shwarma?

OK, this recipe might sound a little weird, but I got it from a friend because it was so yummy, and it’s always a hit with guests. This is a delicious and easy meat dish, perfect for reheating for Shabbat lunch. Freezes like a dream, either raw or cooked. This is easy to make, but that convenience comes with a higher price tag. When shwarma is on sale, buy a bunch!

Shwarma Pie

  • 2 pie shells (frozen or make your own–this is a good EASY recipe)
  • 2 frozen packages of shwarma meat (I use the kind in the photo above)
  • 1 bag frozen corn or two cans
  • 1 C duck sauce or sweet and sour sauce (more to taste)
  • 2C salsa (more to taste)

Stir together the meat, corn, and sauces. It should be wet, but not too wet. Spoon into pie shells and bake at 350F for approximately 40 minutes, or until shell is browned. (The photo below is the unbaked pies – my finished photo didn’t come out well.)

Try it, and see what you think!

This looks so yummy! Do you think it would taste good with leftover cooked chicken?

      What a great idea!

Why not? The shwarma we use is turkey, but leftover chicken can be seasoned however and used (and is a lot cheaper). I’m totally going to use the idea. Thanks!
