This week, our weekdays look pretty normal, but we’re having guests for Shabbat dinner and going out for lunch. That’s for sure a change for us! Now that it’s getting cold here, I’m instituting our regular crockpot Wednesday. Stay tuned for meat crockpot ideas, resources, and recipes! (I only have a meat crockpot–well, actually a couple of different sizes). We try to eat chicken/meat on Wednesdays because dh loves it and we don’t do it often, and Thursdays are almost always dairy to heighten our anticipation pre-Shabbat – so it’s a pre-pre-Shabbat meal. 😉
As always, we keep breakfast and lunch flexible depending on what we’re in the mood for with the ingredients I keep on hand. (DH loves leftover “tv dinners“.)
Breakfasts: Yogurt, cereals, and eggs (and a fruit)
Lunches: Sandwiches, pizza bagels, and quesadillas (and a veggie)
Sunday: We were out at birthday parties and a community event, and ate there, so we kind of did cereal and crackers with spreads for anyone still hungry.
Monday: (Clean Out your Refrigerator Night) CORN (Shabbat leftovers: shwarma pie, salads.)
Tuesday: (Breakfast for dinner night) Pancakes (with extras for the freezer)
Wednesday: (Crockpot night) Mole chicken and rice (will post about if it goes well)
Thursday: (Pasta night) Linguine with snow peas, and carrots in a coconut garlic peanut sauce (this garlic peanut sauce, but using coconut milk instead of broth), and garlic cheese bread
Friday (family of 7 as guests): Challah, salads (roasted eggplant, hummus, pepper salad, olive tapenade, and zhug), Moroccan fishballs, broccoli kugel, butternut squash kugel, mushroom pie, roasted chicken, sweet and sour meatballs and rice.
Shabbat lunch: OUT. No, really!
Shalesheudos: Challah rolls, leftover kugels and salads, and egg salad
