Multimedia resources for kids

There are lots of good Jewish songs, videos, and other media out there. Because my kids are home with me, I’ve made a point of getting some of these (some are paid, some are free). Here are the better ones out there -that we have found, at least. Please feel free to comment or e-mail me your favorites!

I hadn’t ever heard a song that lists the parshiot or the months of the year, but what a great way to help kids remember the order! Here are some songs you can download from the comfort of your own home:

  • The Parsha Song, on Torah Island CD ($0.99): With Bereshis we begin learning Toirah, how precious we hold our mesoirah…
  • Jewish Month Song, on Torah Island CD ($0.99): Tishrei, the time to make us think… (a little about each month to the tune of Do, Re, Mi, has Ashkenazic pronunciation like “Teves,”)
  • Really, what musical collection for kids would be complete without Uncle Moishy!
  • Chabad has a parsha song for most (maybe all!) of the parshiot here (free!)
  • Judaic Sound Archives; Here you find many, many free songs – holiday and every day, English, Yiddish, and Hebrew, Chassidic, Sephardic, Israeli, and even comedy!

Listen to a variety of free Jewish stories here (narrated for download or streaming)

Here is a list of parshiot and coloring pages for each.

A funny and entertaining kids’ series is the Itche Kadoozy video series found here. There are lots of free videos available at Chabad.org, both for holidays and weekly parshiot under the multimedia tab.

Would you recommend any others? I know they’re out there! (Please help me find them!)
