This week, the Israelites are commanded to give 15 materials to make the portable Mishkan – the Tabernacle or sanctuary. Moshe gets the detailed plans direct from Hashem on Mount Sinai, and the people make special woven curtains, the ark, menora, copper basin, and more. This week’s parsha is full of details on building the mishkan.
Links: Here are the Aish, Torah.org, and Chabad pages on Teruma. Here are some coloring sheets, a parsha song, and a fun video from Itche Kadoozy (my older boys love this silly series).
Ideas:
Teruma copywork – parts of the mishkan (from adventures in mama-land, under the Shemot section)
Mishkan cut and paste activity (another from the wonderful adventures in mama-land! We did this last year and will do it again–it’s a good exercise for the kids–and me)
Bake a parsha cake recreating the mishkan
Make this pop-up mishkan project
Make a quiche with ingredients that were donated in this parsha (see recipe and explanation here)
Explore some of the materials collected for the mishkan: gold, silver and copper; blue-, purple- and red-dyed wool; flax, goat hair, animal skins, wood, olive oil, spices and gems
Any other ideas?
