Emor: Resources and Ideas

This week, we have a pretty wide spread of topics. We learn about the Kohenim, and what they can and can’t do. We learn some laws about kindness to animals and what you can/can’t do with a newborn calf. We review the festivals, talk about lighting the menora, and talk about the lechem hapanim. And last, we hear about a blasphemer who was executed and learn about how to compensate someone for losses.

Lag B’omer (the 33rd day) falls this week! And the counting actually comes from this parsha. So this is another good topic to tie in.

Links: Here are the Aish, Torah.org, and Chabad pages on Emor. Here are some coloring sheets, a parsha song, and a fun kids’ video from Itche Kadoozy, and a podcast on holiness, or a chinuch.org powerpoint of the main ideas.

Some ideas:

Make crunchies for Shabbat (it is all tied in nicely to the parsha in this article).

An omer counting project – here is a great list!

Try out a parsha cake like this one

Study some of the holidays – this is a good time to start Shavuot (middle of May 2013)

Do some parsha riddles (and find links to related copywork and other good stuff!)

Does anyone have anything else to add?
