This week’s parsha is all about mitzvot: 74 mitzvot altogether. These include the laws of a beautiful captive, shiluah haken (sending away the mother bird), returning a lost object, who can/cannot marry, the laws of an escaped slave, divorce and marriage, allowing workers to eat on the job, and more. It closes with a command to remember Amelek and his treacherous attack as we left Egypt.
Links: Here are the Aish, Torah.org, and Chabad pages on Ki Teitzei (AKA Ki Seitzei). Here are some coloring sheets, a parsha song, and a fun video from Itche Kadoozy.
Ideas:
- Learn about shiluah haken by making bird nests to eat! This one is from parsha projects, and made with chow mein noodles or bran sticks.
- Or make spaghetti nests with meatball eggs, a la Themed Thinking
- Make a stone fruit bake
- Check out this cute book about the mitzvah of shiluach hakan
- Listen to a shiur on Amelek or learn more specifically how to remember
