21 days: Anticipate obstacles

Welcome back to day 4 of the 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life challenge. (See what the big deal is here, and buy the book to follow along here.)

Today, the book’s lesson is about obstacles: they are going to pop up, so you should plan for them. Makes lots of sense, right?

Assignment 1: Read this article: 5 Steps to Developing Discipline (Check! It’s short and easily accomplished.)

Assignment 2: Consider obstacles to your habit. Write down one obstacle and two solutions.

Obstacle: Not cleaning up after the dinner-bath-bed rush…after all the little people are in bed, it seems like it should be my turn to relax, right? So I am trying to get everything cleaned up before we head up toward the bedrooms (solution 1). If that fails, I can leave the light on to remind me to come back for it (solution 2).

Assignment 3: Honestly, this is proving harder than I thought it would be. There is so much happening every day, and taking some time out to work toward a better future is hard. But I’m plugging away. Today, I’ve updated my staples list. on my grocery list as I’m working through a week of menu planning as part of my mega-project revamping our routine.

How are things going for you?
