21 days: Read motivating books

Welcome back to the 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life challenge. (See what the big deal is here, and buy the book to follow along here.)

Today, we’re talking about the importance of staying inspired using books. I would add shiurim to this, too – Jewish audio classes, either in person or recorded. I’ve started in on several lists and books to share with you, but here are some given in the e-book to get you started:

Eat that Frog: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less TimeGet the hard things done first so they’re out of the way!

168 hours: You Have More Time Than You Think: To help with time budgeting.

Today Matters: 12 Daily Practices to Achieve Tomorrow’s Success: Implementing more discipline in your life.

I like to read a lot, but usually more in the psychology and fiction genres. But several of these are available in my library, even on a (free) audiobook loan.

On to the challenge: My kitchen is wiped down and my desk is mostly clean. I have a few projects to do tomorrow sitting on it, but it’s still better!

And today’s piece of my mega-project?

The short answer is I haven’t really done much on our routine today other than keeping it moving.

The longer answer is I have been spending a lot of very purposeful time with my kids this week, and it’s really putting a damper on this part of the challenge. I guess that having leaving the actual schedule looser, while helpful when things go a little off track, has made it harder for me to keep up with this project. And the project I’ve chosen doesn’t have an end, really.

I am with the kids until their bedtime, then I spend some time with dh, and then it’s time for my work. I do work in the housework and other things during my days, but sitting down and planning isn’t something that I can do with kids jumping around being their usual joyful (read: LOUD) selves.

So today, I’m just making a list of books I’ve read in the past and those I find interesting and want to read. And that’s good enough for me! 😉

How’s it going for you?
