Looking for some kids’ gifts for Rosh Hashana (or Yom Kippur or Sukkot?)

Amazon is running a 20% off sale right now until August 23, 2013 on a good selection of toys, including the popular Melissa and Doug toys. Update: You have to be a member of Amazon Mom (free) to get the discount. My kids get a gift (usually a group gift) on some of these days, especially since outside of Israel we have 3 three-day Yom Tov / Shabbat runs coming up! The 20% off comes with code TOYS2013. Here are a few of my favorites.

This is a Melissa and Doug Unit Block set. The regular price of $70 is high, but with Amazon’s sale and coupon (Coupon code is TOYS2013), you’ll pay $40.79 for the 60 piece set. Still a little pricey, but these are solid wood, great quality, and will last. We actually have two of these at home, and they are well played with. Angry birds is the most common theme lately, but they have been made into homes for all kinds of things, tower building races, a pyramid, and more. I love open ended toys like these!

Next up is another building toy (can you tell my kiddos are builders?) These are cardboard blocks that you fold up. They are actually pretty sturdy and can stand up to a lot – just ask me how I know! 🙂 They are listed at $40, but with Amazon’s current price and the coupon TOYS2013, you’ll pay just $24.

And in another theme, we’re planning on adding these cones this year. My active kids can make all kinds of races, obstacle courses, and other fun things. All that fun (and energy use!) for just $10.38!

These fruits are hanging from our sukkah. Well, when it’s up! We just strung them up with fishing line. They are great quality, and can be used in a fake fruit bowl or kiddo kitchen, too. And at about $14.50, it’s a good price!

This globe puzzle ball is a hit at our house. It’s a little tricky to put together, but since there are numbers inside the piece you can follow, you won’t get stuck. And it’s really cool – about $19.

There are dress up options, board games, baby toys, dolls, and more, too. Head over and look at the choices if you’re looking!

If you can’t find what you’re looking for there, there are tons of other Yom Tov friendly options (although without the 20% coupon – it only applies to those in the link). We have done clics, which are well loved in our house – yes, even the glitter ones!

Or how about Hebrew / English Zingo?

There are lots of fun possibilities!

Hmm thanks for the ideas- I just tried ordering the wooden block set on Amazon but the promotion code didn’t work. Any ideas?

Did you already use it? You have to be an Amazon Mom Prime member, according to the fine print. You can try a three month free trial

I hope it works for you!

    Thanks Amital!
I ordered it , even without the amazon prime mom discount it was a good deal– I don’t have the headspace for signing up for new things now, even if it’s worth it.
I really like posts like this , since I HATE scouring the internet for deals myself but love good deals on the kind of things that will last a really long time and generations will use, IYH. (ie i hate cheap plastic toys– ick!)

Shuli, I’m glad you found something that works for you. I love the open ended quality toys, too. They do tend to be more expensive, but they last!
