Cookie bowls

. Looking for an inventive dessert? This changes everything! Maybe a spice cookie filled with bourbon maple whip? Or chocolate cookies with mint “ice cream”? OK, maybe I’m a little too excited about this, but it really blows my mind. And any cupcake pan turned upside down should work. What fun!

Smokey roasted eggplant spread

This roasted eggplant spread is similar to baba ganoush, but there is no tahini. The amounts are approximate since eggplant size varies so much! This can doubled, but NOT frozen once the mayo is added–it gets watery. 1 eggplant 1 t garlic 1/2 C chopped parsley / 1t dried parsley 2T mayo Roast the eggplant. …

Strawberry honey mustard dressing

from freefoto.com

If, for some reason, I forgot to write down the kind of salad dressing I was planning to buy, and thus forgot to check it and add it to my shopping list for a holiday, this invented-on-the-spot dressing would be a good substitute. Good even for lunches with guests. In fact, it would earn compliments …

Leek patties (Keftes de Prassa)

Great for Rosh Hashanah and Pesach, these leek patties are a Turkish/Sefaridic tradition! Serve with lemon. This recipe makes about 20 patties, depending on size. I doubled it to serve at both dinners (as one of the simanim) and as a veggie for a lunch. Leek patties (Keftes de Prassa) (modified just a little …

Pumpkin peanut soup

This creamy pumpkin peanut soup is a good Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Shabbat, or fall recipe. It’s flavorful, a little different, and delicious! Easy pumpkin spice cookies

This is such an easy pumpkin spice cookie recipe, and delicious, too! I made it tonight. It makes a soft, cakier cookie, but not like a muffin. Makes about 30 small cookies. (Recipe can be doubled for a 29oz can of pumpkin). These cookies are very moist, and in a humid environment can get soft, …

Zhug

Zhug is a really spicy, strongly flavored Yemenite hot sauce. My husband loves it with pretty much everything, but especially roasted eggplant and challah. (I don’t remember where I got this recipe–years ago–but the measurements are approximate.) Zhug 1 lb serrano peppers 5 whole heads garlic 1 C or 1 bunch cilantro 2t crushed red …
