Snowdays!

We got a record snowfall this weekend, and school and work is out for a while – until the area gets mostly shoveled out, at least. We are pretty stuck, with almost everything closed down for now. What to do?

Luckily for me, my kids are into projects. The got the assignment to help with shoveling, and excitedly worked for hours. They helped try to install our new water filter. They built a fort. Did crafts. Colored pictures and glued paper they cut up on them for grandparents and other family. We worked through some workbooks. And we read.

All the things that I had planned for the time when the two oldest were at school are somewhat on hold while I get to play with my kids. Because I work online, I’m the only one who actually is expected at work, but I still get to spend more time with my wonderful family.

So although I sometimes miss school (really, really miss school sometimes!), I feel blessed by this unexpected and naturally enforced family time.
