There are always people in need. This year, with our economy in the state that it is in, more than ever!
Our local homeschool group has a chesed club, and when I called an eldercare group home nearby, there were so many needs going unmet. We have committed to fulfilling some of the needs as a group, and found referrals for other parts, but there is just so much that can be done in each place we have contacted. There is such a need for chesed now!
Especially as we enter a time of so many Jewish holidays, please take the time to reach out in some way! You could:
- Buy some food for the food pantry box (in many grocery stores)
- Make holiday cards for nursing home residents
- Make Sukkot decorations for those who might not have them
- Make a meal, or a special part of a meal, for someone who might be having trouble (for whatever reason)
- Donate trial/travel sized toiletries to a shelter
- Make a monetary donation to any of the wonderful charities we are blessed to have helping people
- Offering what you have: help setting up a sukkah, time for a teen as a mother’s helper during cooking/cleaning for the holidays (assuming they are willing–a good chesed project for them!), a place to stay for visitors, pet-sitting capabilities, etc.
How do you help others?
